Science Of Mind/Religious Science Science of Mind in its broadest sense includes the best in science, religion, and philosophy. It is not a personal opinion or special revelation. It is the result of the best thought of the ages. As a part of the New Thought movement of the 1800’s, Science of Mind draws it roots from the philosophy of the American Transcendental movement and its great thinkers such as Ralph Waldo Emerson. The book “The Science of Mind” was written in 1927 by Dr. Ernest Holmes. Dr. Holmes immersed himself in the great philosophical minds of history, studied the world’s great religions, and met with the most brilliant minds of his time. This led him to a profound comprehension of basic truths that explain the basic principles of how the Universe operates and how it responds to us. The Science of Mind is a synthesis of philosophy, science and religion. He intended it for all faiths. The teachings begin with a simple proposition – that God (the Creative Energy, Universal Intelligence, Life Cause) is an immediate Presence not only around, but also within every person and thing. This Creative intelligence responds to our conscious and unconscious thought. We can change our thinking/beliefs and therefore change our life.
THERE ARE NATURALLY OCCURRING SPIRITUAL LAWS OR PRINCIPLES THAT GOVERN THE UNIVERSE. ONCE WE LEARN ABOUT THESE LAWS, WE CAN BEGIN TO APPLY THEM CONSCIOUSLY IN OUR LIVES TO HEAL, ENRICH, AND DEEPEN OUR SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE. Religious Science is an international religious denomination. The denomination of Religious Science, founded in 1927 by Ernest Holmes, began as the Institute of Religious Science and School of Philosophy. It was set up as an educational institution with the focus being on teaching people how to think in new ways about spirituality and their connection to life itself. This institute evolved into denomination of Religious Science. There are approximately 375 Churches of Religious Science throughout the United States and Canada, as well as a few in other countries. An important part of Religious Science is a type of affirmative prayer, which creates a mold for Universal Mind to fill by holding a vision rather than traditional prayers of supplication. We call this prayer Spiritual Mind Treatment …a Spiritual action taken in the Mind of the one praying, attracting the desired outcome (Treatment). WE LIVE IN AN INTELLIGENT, RESPONSIVE UNIVERSE. IF YOU CHANGE YOUR THINKING YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. UNITED CENTERS FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING CSL Graham is a member church of the United Centers for Spiritual Living, incorporated as United Church of Religious Science (UCRS) headquartered in Burbank, CA. We have a sister organization, Religious Science International (RSI) based in Spokane, WA. Both organizations support an interfaith teaching of universal spiritual principles as presented in the text The Science of Mind, as well as many other New Thought books and teachings. (See links) |
